Yahoo Desktop Search & Everything

Yahoo Desktop Search provides a permanent index of your computer's hard disk which means you can find specific documents, images, presentations, emails, contacts, etc. instantaneously rather than having to search from scratch every time as you do with the Search function included with Windows. But that's not all - YDS can be used to search for words within documents, it provides a scrollable preview if every document if you want it to, and you can save searches for later use!

YDS is a "must" - there are other desktop search engines available (e.g. Google, MSN, Coppernic), but this is by far the best ... so good, in fact, that Yahoo has withdrawn the programme in favour of it's commercial big brother, X1. Luckily (as of now) you can still find YDS at various freeware download sites, so click on the link below and get yours before it is too late!

Everything is slightly different in that it only indexes filenames rather than the content of files, but it is lightening fast. If you right-clik a folder or a drive, you can search just that area of the hard disk. You can also filter the results according to file types, words or letters in the filename, etc which is another very useful feature.

I have both programmes on my computer and use them regularly. Highly recommended.
