While wordprocessors such as Microsoft WORD and OpenOffice Writer have a built-in spell checker and Thesaurus, many programs do not. What do you do then if you need a dictionary to perform a spell check, find out what are the meanings of a particular word or look for words with a similar meaning? Well, you can go on the web or even dust-off the dictionary that is sitting on your bookshelf, or you can use a programme such as WordWeb. WordWeb describes itself as a "Dictionary + Thesaurus + Word Finder" and gives you definitions, examples of how words are used, synonyms, and even tells you about pronounciation all in the click of a mouse (or a hot-key). Definitely useful .... and free, of course.
